I hope you guys had a fabulous weekend, and all you mommas out there had an amazing Mother's Day.
So, my loves, I've had kitchens on the brain lately. I'm pretty sure it has everything to do with knowing that whatever house we end up in will likely have a kitchen in need of some revival, so its been countertops, and backsplashes, and flooring conversations around these parts as of late. The one detail that has me completely obsessed is the integration of a vintage stove. I'm totally smitten with them.
There's just something about an old stove that gives me the warm and fuzzies. These jewels were total workhorses. Drive thrus and restaurants weren't a "thing", so they were built to put in some major work. Since we've narrowed our home search down to those built no later than the 60s, I think it only fitting to have one be the shining star in our next space.
For those who really want the technology and newness of today, Big Chill makes amazing retro inspired ranges. I love the 50s feel of them, and they pack the power of a restaurant grade appliance. Its kinda the best of both worlds. They are pricey, but man are they puuuuuuurty! Can we say over 200 color options!

I would have to try cooking on a vintage range before I made my decision, plus I think it depends on the decor of the rest of your house. However I will agree with you that I LOVE the look of the vintage ranges! You totally need one

ReplyDeleteThose big chill stoves are so pretty and the price is crazy!! I think a vintage stove will be a great addition to an older / updated kitchen....for me I love new stoves with all the bells and whistles having used plenty of older stoves, I'm in LOVE with our new range and wouldn't trade it lol :)

ReplyDeleteWe used to have one of these in the house a house we used to rent. It was awesome and worked really well. I especially liked the enamel cover that lifted up to uncover the burners. The only thing I didn't like was having to light the oven with a match since it didn't have a automatic starter. I've heard you can sometimes get the old stoves off of craigslist and have them reconditioned. Just saw a few of them the other day at one of my favorite salvage places. ReplyDeleteWe just started renting a house with an original Chambers BZ. I cooked in the oven for the first time yesterday and its small but that thing can work! I had perfectly roasted chicken breasts in 20 mins! Now if I can get the ceiling fan to not blow out the pilot on the stovetop :-)
