Hope you all had a great weekend and a festive Cinco de Mayo! We spent ours doing a bit more house hunting and getting settled into our short term digs.
The apartment is 2 bd 1 ba and comes in at 765sft with laundry and a small patio. It is quaint, comfortable, efficient, and is nothing more or less than what we need right now. The biggest adjustment has been having the kids share a room, and going from 4 sinks and 3 toilets to just one of each! Its actually been really great so far though. We all have our own dedicated storage cubbies in the bathroom and it helps us use the limited space really effectively. We are learning to live in a different way, which is exactly what we wanted by downsizing anyway. I think this space is the perfect segue into small space living for us.
Now about that house hunt....we may have found a winner! Its a bit of a mess, but we can see right past all the ugly. We are putting in an offer and hope to hear good news soon. After seeing a lot of what's out there, we've narrowed it down to one particular neighborhood we absolutely love. Our market is crazy and bidding wars are a bit of the norm where we live, so we are expecting that it may take some time and that we may not get the first house we put an offer in on. We will just keep focused on what we are looking for and it will come along eventually.
Until next time....

ReplyDeleteCute! I love how you've already made it your own!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to move into a small apartment before buying your second house. I bet when you move in, it will feel palatial. Don't you think it's wonderful to only have to clean one bathroom? I love that bit. You've done really nice job of making your apartment feel homey. I'm impressed!!

P.S. We lost out on our first bid to an all cash offer. And in hindsight, that was exactly how it was supposed to be. I'm so glad we have this house instead of that one. I bet it works out similarly for you too!!
ReplyDeleteI would seriously trade our rental apartment for yours right now! You've got some amazing natural light coming in and it looks so bright and homey!
