Happy Friday loves! Another week bites the dust babes. I'm relieved its over and completely ready for the weekend.
Today I have Darnetha here with me sharing her small space life with us. Darnetha blogs over at ChippaSunshine. I love how she makes the most of her minimal space, especially given that she has three active children. She gave us a peek inside, and shared her joys (and frustrations) on living small.
Where/What city do you live in?
I live in the Ville, as in Nashville Tennessee.I live with my husband, our three active kids (a teenage girl and two boys) and our cat, Lilly.
We own! This is our first home!
1048 square feet that translates into 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and laundry room.
I am the type of person who can get easily overwhelmed with a ton of stuff around me. I’m sort of a minimalist, so to speak. Except with paper, I keep it all. Lol! Our home helps me to pair down the unnecessary and in turn helps me to surround myself with meaningful things that we love and that have purpose.
Storage, storage, storage. Our home is 66 years old and in true old house fashion we don’t have big closets or rooms. Therefore storage and organization is essential and we have to use every bit of space wisely. Most things have a dual purpose and we have to keep clutter to a minimal.
My favorite room in our home would have to be our living room. That name is so befitting cause we literally live in that room. We watch TV, do homework, play games, nap, have our daily discussions, and eat meals all in that 12' x 16' space.
Yes ma’am. Even though I am in love with our home I could stand to have a few more square feet. I would like to have one more bedroom for guest|office, a den, a true eat-in kitchen so we don’t have to eat in the living room separate from the kids, a garage for my husband’s bike (motorcycle) and that’s all folks!
Make everything count! Make the most of what you have. You don’t have to have a ton of stuff or space to live a full and successful life!
Aaah, yes. That last sentence is profound, no? Thank you so much for sharing your home with us today, Darnetha. Make sure you pop by her place and say hi...tell her I sent ya;) Oh, and if you live and love in a small space, I'd love to hear about it.
Happy weekend friends. Hopefully you get to enjoy a reprieve from the snow. Until next time...

ReplyDeleteI love this series. I enjoy looking at homes and was getting fed up with the giant mansions but these are so cozy and beautiful, not to mention full of ideas to steal. My house has room but sometimes it still feels like the rooms could function better. Plus, these homes in your series are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like these little peeks into her home. Thanks for sharing Shavonda :) Happy Weekend! xo K
