Furniture Finds!!

Hey everyone!!

I'm absolutely over the moon because lately I've been able to find furniture pieces we need for the house.  I figured it might be a bit of a challenge to find the pieces for the kitchen because I needed them both to be over 70" long.  Oh me of litte faith!!  I scooped up a console table in the As-Is section at Ikea and a dresser from a local thrift store.

A couple weeks ago while at Ikea I wondered into the As-Is section.  I LOVE the As-Is section.  Pretty much every time I'm there I find something great and this time was no exception!  One of the pieces we needed for the house was a console (or some other) table for under our kitchen window.  I wanted it to serve as a place to put our indoor herb garden as well as serve as additional storage.

I'd actually seen the table in the showroom several times before and thought it would be perfect but wasn't willing to pay $200 for it.  Im glad I waited because the table was hangin out in the as-is section for 50% off the original price.  I happily brought it home with me!  Not only was it half off, but I also didn't have to build it when I got home because it was the showroom model.  Score and Score!!  The color is definitely not staying as is, but its a nice solid piece with good drawer space for storage.  Me likey!!

I'm thinking I may nix the middle shelf to give it a little more of an open feel.  But, that's a detail I'll figure out in due time.

The other great furniture score I made was just today actually.  A while ago I mentioned my mirrored buffet obsession and how BADLY I MUST. HAVE. ONE.!  But with price tags ranging from $600-over $3000 it ain't happenin'! Ive been on the prowl for a piece I can transform into one and by golly I think I've found it!

Today I decided to check out a local thrift store (more like megastore) for the first time today and I hit the jackpot.  I originally went in with the intent to see if I could find a campaign dresser like I've seen recently on a couple of my fav blogs.  Both  Centsational Girl  and my girl Hilary at My So Called Home recently posted about their campaign furniture finds.

When I walked in I immediately headed toward the furniture and was over the top elated to actually find a campaign dresser for $35!!!  Then my bubble was quickly burst when i saw the "Sold" tag on it.  Apparently someone had gotten to it only minutes before I had the chance to.  The salesperson told me he had just brought out a couple other dressers if I wanted to check them out.  I'm glad I did because amongst the sea of very ugly 80's style furniture was this "little" jewel.  Behold my mirrored buffet project piece!

I know, I know...it doesn't exactly have the modern, clean lined look I desire right now, but once I perform some cosmetic surgery,  it should shine.  Although it has some signs of wear, (probably decades of it) its got the lines and the storage that will be perfect for a chic bar/drink serving area.

I'm super stoked about my recent finds and I can't wait to start hookin em up with paint!!  Have you guys found any great furniture pieces lately?  Anyone transformed anything from drab to fab?  Do tell! Until next time.....
