Weekend Adventures!

Hi Guys!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Saturday was me and Naomi's 1 year anniversary!  Man, did that year fly by.

We didn't do anything super spectacular to celebrate this year.  We decided we wanted it to be pretty low key so we spent the day exploring the city, enjoying each other's company and had yummy Indian food for dinner.

I love Sacramento.  Its big enough to always have something going on, yet it still maintains a small town feel to me.  We are so busy during the week with work and the kids that we rarely get a chance to slow down and absorb the world around us.

We ventured into one of our absolute favorite areas of town: the downtown/midtown area.  The capitol city is rich with history, is incredibly diverse, and has a thriving arts an design scene, which is perhaps my favorite thing about it.  We decided to park the car and take a stroll.  We ventured in to a funky little modern vintage boutique called Scout Living.  Although 1960's midcentury modern isn't necessarily my favorite era for design, I definitely have an appreciation for it.  Here are a few things that I thought were pretty cool:

I loved these oversized laps, but at $195 for the pair...yikes.  Could stumble upon something similar while thrifting....

This mobile was really fun and could be a fun DIY project to try to replicate...

I couldn't believe this chandelier looked like it was made out of thick fishing line!

We continued our adventures through the tree lined streets of downtown.  I snapped some pics of a few period homes.  I adore older homes.  My dream would be to live in an early 1900 Craftsman bungalow.  One day......but for now, I just enjoy walking by these beauties......

We winded down our discovery walk in the arts district, where we stumbled upon a cool community mural...

I absolutely love pugs, so I couldn't help myself!...

It was a great end to a great day....very much reminiscent of the beginning of our future this time last year...

There's just something about us and a good wall mural!!!!

So what do you love about your city?  Have you been on a quest for discovery in your city lately?  Hope you all had an awesome weekend.
