So apparently its Wednesday?! How'd that happen? I'm having one of those weeks where I've fallen behind and now its time to play some major catch up.
Over the weekend I did more rearranging. This time to the tune of a complete room swap. Remember the guest room? I haven't posted about it in a while because right in the midst of that project we had a family member move in so the room has been off limits. She's still here so it'll be a while yet before I start that project up again and when I do, Ill be designing a completely different space.
I swapped out the guest room and my daughter, Bryanna's, room. Id been giving it some thought for a while and finally decided just to go ahead and do it. It came with a bit of hesitation on Bry's part because the old guest room is much smaller than her room was, but now that she's had a chance to settle in over a couple days she's fine.
Even though her room was larger, she wasn't using most of the space. Honestly all the extra space was an open invitation for mess and clutter. Such is the case for a tweenage girl, I guess. Her new space perfectly fits her full size bed and desk area. We live with no closet doors around here so her dresser is in the closet which helps free up much needed floor real estate, but leaves plenty of room for her hanging clothes and shoes. Its cozy, but she's the kind of girl that no matter how much space she has, she finds her fav corner and basically lives there so ultimately I think she will be much more comfortable. At the same time, like Naomi and I, our kids don't spend a ton of time in their rooms. Its basically for sleeping so there isn't really a need for tons of space. Unfortunately, she is a bit of a pack rat so this will be a lesson for her in learning to choose wisely and think intentionally about what makes it in to her space and what she can live without.
The guest room, which has the twin beds, now has much more appropriate space for its needs.
We've already started adding some design bits to her room. Her old desk got a new look
I just couldn't resist another red piece! I also couldn't resist using this dragonfly paper again.
For the time being I replaced the old hardware with a couple knobs leftover from the hallway linen closet revamp.
Bry added some paper garland she made to her bed posts
Aesthetically, over time her room will be pretty much completely overhauled from how it looked previously.
I've got another project I'm working on as well that I'm excited to share with you guys tomorrow AND I think we decided on a color for our front door, too! Oh and if that's not enough our dryer decided to call it quits on us yesterday as well. Hopefully its as simple a fix as replacing the heating element. Knowing our luck, it wont be that easy. Until next time....

ReplyDelete"Say it, say it, say it" ... what day is it? {Since we both find that commercial hilarious :) } Nothing wrong with swapping rooms especially when all involved seem happier in the end! And you are one of the best color pickers, I always love the color you choose to reinvent a piece. The desk is so happy looking now.
