I've never been a "decorate for the seasons" kinda girl so this is going to be a fun challenge for me. You can see what I come up with on Oct 30th.
While we are on the topic of fall spruce ups there was one area of the house that got a little attention recently.
This was our front yard before. Those two trees were a problem for me for four reasons. First and foremost one of them completely covered the stop sign which gave me a major case of the worries pretty much everyday. Our house is on the corner and I was always concerned about a potential accident. I didn't want that on my conscious. Secondly our front "yard" is uber small and I don't think the builders considered the size of the trees at maturity when they planted them. They pretty much took over the space which leads me to my third point: they block the entire view of the house. And fourth it kinda made me uncomfortable that they were potential hiding places for bad guys. I mean a witness wouldn't be able to identify them if a crazy person attacked me on a grocery run one day because they couldn't see past the damn trees! Irrational, yes, but it was a safety concern nonetheless.
Here we are after. Hello there house! Its nice to meet you. I love it so much more now that the trees are gone and I'm sure my neighbors appreciate the fact that the stop sign is visible.
I almost forgot we have a porch.
I guess we can use it now that we can actually see from it.
I'm already brainstorming ideas for replacing the hedges and bushes in the spring. Id also love to have some stairs put in leading to the front door. For now though id like to do something about that front door.
Its so blah and really looks like every other door on the street. I kinda want it to stand out a bit so I'm thinking something fun and vibrant....maybe in the jewel tone family..oh, and a kick plate. Id really like to add one of those.
Are you doing any front yard sprucing up this fall? Until next time....

I love the outside of your house. A fun color on the door would be great!
ReplyDeleteDid you see Caitlin's (Desert Domicile) blue door makeover? It's so cool!
Can't wait to see your home tour!
Is this what the teal is for!? Love that!!! xo Kristin
ReplyDeleteYeah, you definitely need a great color on that door! You're off to a good start, landscaping takes SO much time!
ReplyDeleteMuch better without the tree. So much you can do now to landscape with appropriate size plants and shrubs. The best part is now you can decorate the porch and people will actually see it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference with the trees gone...so nice and open now! I can't wait to be front door twinsies with some teal! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat move taking those trees down. Your house is so cute! And now you can focus on purposeful landscaping that enhances your house instead of hides it.
ReplyDeleteGreat move on removing the trees. Your house is lovely! I bet you get a lot more light pouring into the house now. Happy painting and landscaping.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for your installment of the fall tour! And the outside of your house is cute! Can't wait to see what you do with it:)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve!!! I am sure that it is going to be...wait for it...legendary!!! (do you watch How I Met Your Mother?) ;)
ReplyDeleteRemoving those trees really opens up your whole yard!! I can't wait to see what color your decided to paint your front door! :)
ReplyDeleteWow...that is a huge difference and it sounds like you and I totally worry the same way! lol! My hubby always is giving me a hard time because all of my worries are like 1 in a million, but I cannot help it! I cannot wait to see what color you end up going with and you have a beautiful home! ;)
