Happy Tuesday loves! So this past weekend I tackled a super impromptu revamp project: our office space. The ultimate goal for this revamp was high function and style for super low cost. I had a super limited budget so the Target dollar section, thrift stores, Ikea, spray paint, and shopping the house were key to making this little project a success. I love the results.
You may remember this space looking like this last time I gave you a peek at it.
I recently transitioned from working full time to being home full time so our previous office space just wasn't working for me anymore. What was once a place to quickly sit and check emails or pay bills now needed to function as a command center of sorts, so I decided a makeover was definitely in order! Nowadays after dropping the kids off at school, I spend most of the morning at the desk so I really needed a space that was just a tad more inspiring.
As much as I really really really wanted either a parson's or vintage desk, it just wasn't happening. The lines of it were already very clean and modern, so I decided Id reuse our current desk and give it a new life by painting it with some glossy white paint. Oil based, of course. The brass lamp also stayed.
I opted to turn the desk around so that it sits in front of the window and added two lack shelves from Ikea to bring in much needed storage space. They fit perfectly in the corner and house my camera, lenses and accessories on one, and other office essentials on the other. I may end up adding a third shelf later down the line. I shopped the house a bit and brought over a few things from other locations including the stool I was using as a plant stand for a while. I like it here for extra seating.
Some folks like trays, but I'm a bowl kinda girl. A collection of thrift store finds, target dollar section pieces, and one I already owned keep things like rubber bands, tape, usb's and gold paper clips, yes GOLD paper clips, neatly at arms reach.
There are still just a few more details I need to wrap up but all in all I'm really happy with my new blogging headquarters.
Better pictures and some styling to come when I get my hands on a tripod. Naomi bought me one for our anniversary so Im anxiously awaiting its arrival. Until next time guys.....

gorgeous! i love this color pairing so much- the deep blue walls, woos chair, and white desk, just like your dining area i love!
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend! Im so glad I went for the navy walls. Im not sure Id love anything else as much as I do the blue. I try to bring in white and elements of white as much as possible to act as neutrals amongst all the deep wall colors.

DeleteIt came out so great! Beautiful photos, too :)
ReplyDeleteLove that the desk is facing the window now! Great updates!
ReplyDeleteI love what you did here! I have always loved the blue you have on your walls and the pops of black and white and brass/gold is perfect! I'm such a plant person, too, and think everything looks so much better with a little green in the pic! I have had my fiddle fig since April and so far so good. A couple of leaves have gotten black spots on them, but overall, I think it's healthy and we are keeping it watered right and in the right spot for sun/indirect light. They are tricky lil suckers! Let me know if you have any good tips! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt looks incredible!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I love how you used the dotted Ikea fabric it's one of my favorites. Hope they'll sell it again when I go next time :)
