Design Obsession: Painted Floors

Hi Everyone!

Happy Friday loves!  If there ever was a week when I've looked forward to this day, this is definitely the one.

If you're part of my Instafam, you know I've been busy with the hallway makeover this week.  I'm tackling painting the cabinets right now.  Let me just say how much I hate painting cabinets.   Like that moment when it starts raining just after you get to the pool hate it.  This particular project is even more of a headache because I also ran into an issue with the paint.  I'm not a fan of the consistency or the way its turning out so I have to switch up the formula AGAIN.  Its like deja vu, I swear.  I had to switch up paints in the middle of painting the kitchen cabinets too.

But I digress. While in the midst of this makeover I've already begun mentally prepping for the next project on our to do list: the laundry room.  I've been brainstorming ways to give it high impact for pennies.  Among other things, the linoleum sheet flooring has got to go. One thought I'm toying with is doing some sort of painted floor treatment on the concrete subfloor.  Originally I thought we should install tile or maybe engineered wood, but I think it may be fun to do something a tad unexpected.

These are inspiring me....

  2. When executed well this is a great look! I'm not sure I've come across a paint that would wear well on a floor; after all the effort to create that look I'd be so grrrr if it scratched easily or peeled or other and I know you have to feel the same given your cabinet painting experience(s). I guess they'd need to be topcoated in the same finish used on stained hardwoods. By the time we went through all the work in my house the floor would have to be a keeper for a fairly long time. A laundry seems to be a great place to experiment though. Happy weekend, Robin
