Happy Humpday folks! Thank you all so much for all the love you dished out about the deck makeover progress. You guys are seriously the best. I'm excited to get it done so I can reveal the finished product.
With all the time Ive been spending out back Ive been giving a lot of thought to some other major changes Id like to eventually make to the backyard. Its a slippery slope I tell ya. Once you beautify one element, its just so hard to stop there. Such is the life of a DIY/interior design fanatic.
One of the things Id really like to do is get rid of our lawn and go grass less. As you know, our back yard is fairly small and I feel like its pretty much pointless to have grass in the space.
I mean it literally takes me like 6 minutes to mow! In my opinion this is the perfect example of waste on top of waste. Its a waste of time, a waste of space, and don't even get me started on the water we're wasting to keep it green. There's just a much better way we could be using the space, I think. If the yard were bigger I don think I would consider getting rid of the grass, but given that its not, I think we should just let it go.
Id love to see some nice hardscaping go down and focus on creating different zones for entertaining. Ideally I would like to see areas for cooking, dining, and relaxing. There would be lots of plants and greenery in containers to break up the hard lines. Ive already started planting in containers anyway since we have clay soil and its hard to get anything to grow in it.
I'm inspired by these spaces

Love the retaining wall planter along the fence
What about you, could you go lawn less? Until next time.....

I hear, ya! I barely have any grass and I wouldn't mind for all of it to be gone. Love all the spaces you picked!
ReplyDeleteI like the pavers with the grass growing around them. Always loved that look! xo Kristin
ReplyDeleteMe too Kristin. I'm pretty sure that's the way we r gonna go with it.
DeleteI really like your inspiration pics and could really see your yard going grass-less. For my own home, I love the mixture of seating & dining / grass areas / garden / flowers & bushes - I'm a huge lover or grass....so its always a must for me!
ReplyDeleteI love that look too Katrina! A girl's gotta work with what I've got;) Im hoping i can get all that in minus the grass.
DeleteI looove the peek of grass growing through the pavers. Definitely something I would go for and I think it would look awesome in your backyard.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right. Plus I think it may be fairly easy enough to work with the grass we already have to put in the pavers. We could diy it rather than having to pay someone to come in and cement it.
DeleteI love the first pic with the grass and stone combo! I would love to do something like that for my driveway. I could never go grass less or in my case weed less :) there is too much soccer playing going on right now! I think this would be awesome in your backyard. When my grandma lived in Las Vegas she did this but with concrete and rock and it looked great!
