Happy Friday!! This day couldn't come fast enough. Its been one of those weeks. The weather man predicts its gonna be a scorcher here this weekend but Ive got a little something up my sleeve to keep me pretty busy.
Yesterday I popped into Target to get some water to take to softball practice when I was lured into the outdoor section somehow. I swear that place has a way of trapping me every. single. time. While there I spotted some fun cushions, pillows, and solar lights on clearance and was inspired to give my humble deck a makeover.
I gotta admit: amid all the incredibly beautiful and super inspiring outdoor and patio makeovers Ive seen throughout the blogosphere lately, I just haven't been moved to do anything to my own backyard space. I guess I just think about all the things I still want and need to on the inside that Ive really neglected the outside. Its such a shame because I spend a lot of time out there tending to my veggie garden.
I think another reason Ive neglected it is because it's the one compromise I made when we purchased our home. I really really wanted a big outdoor space and instead I got a really really small one. Its no excuse for letting it go, but its a contributing factor. Well, gosh darnit, enough is enough. This is my reality I need to embrace it and get the hell over it. So I'm on a mission to make the most of our humble yard starting with the deck.
One of the positives about our outdoor area is that it came with a small deck. This is a major plus for me because I'm constantly barefoot and its nice to be able to step outside onto a deck instead of onto grass. We actually like it and its a shame we aren't putting it to better use. These pics are uber embarrassing, but I'm keepin it real
Umm yeah, HOT MESS. But not for long. There's sure to be a ton of work to be done so Im off to make it happen.
