Deck Reveal!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday!  Usually Monday's are my least fav day of the week, but this week is a short work week due to the upcoming holiday, so technically today is my Wednesday!  We are expected to have an entire week of 106+ degree weather, so not a lot of projects will be getting done.  I'm also heading out of town on Thursday so this may be a quiet blog week, too.

Over the weekend I finished up the deck spruce up.  We are all ready for citronella candles and company!

I intended on doing a painted rug DIY project for the space, but I decided to fore go the rug. Our deck is not covered and between the harsh sun and bird poop, I decided it wasn't the best decision.  I still may get one of the pastic-y ones, but for now I thing we're good. I also picked up some more cushions during a World Market flash sale.

The majority of this space has been all about repurposing and reusing items we already had, including the hanging succulent planter.

It's actually a shelf to our entryway console table.  It came with two, but I only wanted to use one, so Ive had this in the garage for months.  I had a little ah ha moment yesterday and realized it would make the perfect planter.  Having already had the hooks on hand, I picked up some $1 buckets from the ever-trapping Target dollar section and some succulents from Home Depot for $1.98 each! I simply drilled holes in the bottom of the buckets for drainage and planted away.

This could also work really well with shutters and herbs, other small flowering plants, or even strawberries. I love how they soften and add life to the bland stucco wall.

So who wants to come hang out with us (after it cools down, of course)?  You're more than welcome. What did you get into over the weekend?

Until next time....

XoXo-Shavonda

    1. Hey lady! The best part about the is it takes practically no space at all. You see I leaned mine on the wall tucked behind a potted plant. It's a great small space gardening solution:)

    1. Hey lady! You're far too kind! It's def not perfect. You know what would make it just about perfection? If you somehow found a way to magically zap your amazing waterfall over our way! THEN it would be perfect!

  15. Just discovered your blog and love your ideas. I don't know where you live -- I'm in Texas north of Dallas -- but it's been hot enough for me.

I use a piece of lattice, propped against the patio wall behind a bench made from concrete blocks and 2-by-6's, with flat-backed black planters fastened to it with S-hooks -- chartreuse sweet potato vines and blue daze are thriving. Also have a couple terra cotta sun faces hanging on it -- love the look.

I look forward to seeing more of your ideas.

  17. Love this space, the colors are perfect! I saw a great outdoor rug on Overstock the other day, I think it might be the plasticy kind? But the colors are great and would work so well in your space, but it doesn't really have blue in it :( http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Prater-Mills-Indoor-Outdoor-Reversible-Orange-Purple-Rug/7718769/product.html?AID=10712286&PID=3662453&SID=skim725X1114222Xf5680e99656374299b40d001667f5db5
